Ceramics Ceramics are one of the oldest crafts practised in ThailandArchaeological finds have dated the earliest commercial ceramic centres as being over 5000 years old in the north-east of the current kingdom.During the Medieval period, porcelain and other specialists, from China, settled in the Northern Thailand Kingdoms of Lan Na, Sukhothai, and Phayao, where they established specialist towns and villages dedicated to their craft. From these early settlements came several genres of pottery such as Celadon and Sawankhalok. From the most basic and primitive village kilns to large modern factories, the making of ceramic products still flourishes in the north - especially in the production of decorative items and ethnic functional ware. Further south in the Thai central plains are huge factories producing top quality porcelain and export products, in addition to "heavy" ceramics such as sanitary ware and restaurant supplies. From GazLanNaThai you can now obtain selected ranges of decorative and novelty items to enhance your home.
