4 years ago today – the Indian Ocean Tsunami

I have been reminded that it is four years to the day since the Indian Ocean tsunami event.

I have also been pointed at the following Amateur video of the tsunami hitting Phuket in Thailand

The video is over 7 minutes long and is a compilation of footage from several people.

I lost friends to the tsunami, and cannot add much more to this post.

  1. The Tsunami was a truly horrific event and took thousands of lives.

What the people associated with the Thai government did with the funds and properties involved to restore the damage is even more horrific.

    Forget the ‘Land of Smiles’

  2. Yes Jeff

I think the writing was on the wall for that when within 48 hours of the tsunami, Thai Rak Thai cabinet members were spouting to the world media that the reason for such heavy loss was due to “encroachment” on the beach fronts.

As soon as I heard that, I knew there’d be a land-grab in the offing.
