It’s a long time since I took part in a pub-quiz.
Last night I went along to one at The Pub – ChiangMai’s longest surviving expat watering hole, somewhere around a century old now – and had a great time, even though it left me wondering what’s happened to my brain.
I’ll admit to having a great time, and Graham the manager, and a long time friend, introduced me to a couple of tourists needing to make up numbers for a team. We did our best, and just avoided the wooden spoon at the end of the night, but what has happened to my memory?
Nearly half the questions related to the 1970’s in one way or another and I should have scored far better. I completely forgot Glynis Barber’s name in the photo round, and when asked for the names of the three actor’s who’d played Jack Ryan in the various movies,my mind totally blanked Ben Afleck despite having a firm image of his face, and being able to name half a dozen of his other films to try and jog my team-mates’ memories.
I’m thinking of making it a regular session at the Pub’s Friday night quizzes. I’m also thinking it would be great to form a team of bloggers and etailers if there’s enough of you out there reading this? Gimme a shout if you’re in, and we’ll team-up.
