UK Embassy Bangkok Travel Warning Update 26 May 2010
By Garry | May 26th, 2010 | Category: Travel Warnings | No Comments »Issued 26 May 2010, 10:30 by British Embassy, Bangkok, Thailand
Our travel advice will shortly be updated with the following:
We are now advising against all but essential travel to Bangkok. Although the situation in Bangkok is returning to normal, it is still unpredictable and a curfew remains in place there and in 23 other provinces.
British nationals already in Bangkok should respect the terms of the curfew and stay indoors between midnight and 4am. They should continue to monitor FCO Travel Advice and the media. The advice against all but essential travel to Bangkok does not apply to travellers transiting the airport en route to other destinations, either internationally or within Thailand.
We continue to advise against all but essential travel to Chiang Mai, where there is also still a curfew in force, and while the risk of demonstrations and violence there remains.
We continue to advise against all travel to the Preah Vihear temple area and advise against all but essential travel to the far southern provinces of Pattani, Yala, Narathiwat and Songkhla.
