Siam, now called Thailand, has long been famous for it's textiles and clothing workmanship. Less well known is its long history of producing high quality, diverse designs in accessories such as bags, belts, head wear, purses, scarves & shawls, etc.

Added to those intrinsic skills and pride in attention to detail, Thailand has for many centuries been a melting pot of ethnicity and cultures, which brings a bewildering variety of colour combinations, fabrics and materials, and styles to the clothing markets, particularly with regard to garments with "ethnic" origins.

As home to a major fork in the historical "Silk Road" trade routes, Northern Thailand has benefited from constant exposure to outsiders arriving on their travels, often bringing with them news of emerging fashions and new production techniques. Cumulatively, this has enriched and expanded the traditional fabric and garment industries to a breadth of variety that is possibly seen nowhere else in such a compact region.
