CARVED SOAP FLOWERS

Our carved soap flowers come almost exclusively from Miss Aom Rangsee, one of the first beneficiaries of our Fair Trade and sustainable business support aims, and one of our most popular suppliers. Aom's carved-soap flowers have been bought by customers worldwide, and were used as wedding favours at our own wedding when Tan & Gaz married in 2006.

The flowers she carves represent a wide choice of temperate and tropical blooms, with each design normally being available in a selection of sizes. Where the flower is presented in a hand-painted lacquerware box, the painting is carried out by other members of her family. Where the boxes have a repousse plate for décor, the plate has been hand-beaten by Aom's fiancée - a real family business and cottage industry.

Some of the soap carvings that appear from time to time, here in our store, are from other carvers. These are usually of a design Aom does not make. They are also (sometimes) production over-runs from wholesale orders completed for our commercial customers, or from large-quantity wedding favour requests.
